Pila
English Translation:
There was a time that our country was called “Pila-pinas” due to the fact that in every public event, there is a line of people. A line for a Lotto outlet, in buying rice, fetching a water from a public well/water source and of course, a line before boarding a bus, ship or an airplane. Falling in line is a done for us to have a system of order.
"Pilipinas" is the local name of the Philippines. Pila-pinas was coined from: "pila" means to fall in line; and "-pinas" the last sylable of "Pilipinas"
In the photo is an orderly line of people in an airport boarding gate before boarding a commercial airplane/flight.
