My second want for Christmas is a Timex Ironman Run Trainer 2.0 T5K743

I admit I'm not an Ironman nor a triathlete but it doesn't mean that I won't dream of having an ultimate athletic watch.

Things I do love about Timex Ironman Run Trainer 2.0 T5K743:

First is the GPS capability. Back in 2002, was my first travel by sea. Its a 24 hour ship ride from Manila to Dumaguete City. It was my many first: travel by sea; to go to Dumaguete and; my first Visayan city to visit. While at sea , all we can see is the blue sea horizon. Imagine our delight when we see islands or fishing boats and other ships. With such an experience we always see ourselves asking "where are we?" Going back to Manila was on sea too but on a different route, we sailed from Bacolod City - we rode a bus from Dumaguete to Bacolod - to Manila and yes it was the same question "where are we?". Forward a few years and I found out the full benefits of having a GPS. We can track down where we are even in the middle of nowhere. Im not an Ironman but it realy takes to be an Ironman to battle sea travel.

The healthy features of this watch are: a heartbeat monitor and; hydration and nutrition timers. Some months ago, I went to a gym and it really pays to have a heartbeat monitor and a timer that alarms to tell me to, lets say, to stop cycling to rest and water break. This watch will sure watch my intervals of exercise and breaks.

To know more of this watch and other Timex Hero Models watch this video

I dearly do hope that this wish will come true. If you are asking what was my first want for Christmas, well its marrying my best true friend this 28th ;) who gave me a Timex watch as an anniversary present.

Don’t let scrapes and cuts spoil your child’s adventures!

Let’s face it: children are always quick, excited, and full of energy. They run, jump, and play whenever and wherever they want. Be it in the mall, school, park or the comforts of their own home, children are prone to cuts, scrapes, bruises, and other injuries that will surely make Mom worry.

These little hiccups in a growing child’s life can’t be totally eliminated. But – they can definitely be minimized. Here are some helpful tips to make sure children are safe from harm and accidents wherever they are:

1. Keep dangerous items like knives, cutters, scissors, nails and poisonous stuff locked and far away from young kids’ reach.

2. Make sure you keep tabs of your child when he or she is having fun in the playground. Check out the surface that they’re playing on, as they may have sharp parts or protrusions.

3. Make your child wear sturdy and slip-free shoes. Dressing them in pants or overalls may be a good thing to prevent scrapes when they fall.

4. Make your child wear safety gear like a helmet or knee pads when they’re biking, skating or participating in rugged sports.

5. Put up safety gates at the top and bottom of the stairs if you still have toddlers.

6. Keep a first aid kit handy. Make sure they contain povidone, sterile bandages, cotton and dependable tape bandages that your kids will like.

Nexcare™ Bandages has a range of products that make sure your children are safe and protected when they suffer the scrapes and wounds that are part of growing up. Kids will love the cool designs ranging from Disney Princesses, Nemo and Cars. Not only do they protect booboos well, kids will love showing them off to playmates like a badge of honor.

Nexcare™  also has Active Strips Flexible Foam Bandages, Steri-Strip Skin Closure, Gentle Paper First Aid Tape, and Soft n’ Flex Bandages that are both child- and adult-friendly products, good for caring for bruises and cuts.

Siklab: Now Serving Filipino Favorites that are Worth Dining for

Just when you thought Filipino food couldn’t get any more exciting beyond the sizzle of sisig on a hot iron plate, The Bistro Group cooks up a homegrown restaurant concept that is sure to enkindle one’s appetite for Pinoy cuisine.

Opening its doors at the 3rd level of Greenbelt 3, SIKLAB forays into the array of Filipino restaurants in the metro, offering local comfort food that are expected to be a notch or two higher.

Siklab opens its doors at the 3rd level of Greenbelt 3

What’s in a name?
With a restaurant name that literally means “to catch fire” or “burst into flames,” the dishes served here are in their best hot-off-the-grill goodness like the staple Filipino Chicken Barbecue which happens to be one of the restaurant’s “must-try” items on the menu. Guests can also look forward to nothing less than an explosion of flavors even in the most simple of dishes.

Siklab’s Chicken Barbecue is a bestseller

“At Siklab, the story doesn’t end with serving all-Filipino dishes but we present these dishes creatively, the Bistro way,” Chef Josh Boutwood says. “Both usual favorites and some unique Filipino dishes will be served with interesting twists. The taste, however, is still traditionally Filipino — but richer and more flavorful,” he further hints.

The restaurant’s interiors are accented with wooden planks and black droplights that lend a laidback, almost rustic vibe to the place. But it’s this homey and inviting ambiance that heightens the dining experience at Siklab, creating just the right kind of setting for a satisfying meal.

Flavorful Filipino food fare
Choosing what dish to order from Siklab’s menu might prove to be a challenge as all items – from salads and appetizers, to entrees and desserts – are delicious and worth second servings.

Chef Josh personally recommends the star of the menu, the Chicken Barbecue. Chicken pieces are smothered in Siklab’s marinade made of coconut soy sauce, citrus and other spices and the meat is grilled to exact temperature and tenderness. The smokey aroma and intense flavor of the chicken plus its juiciness and succulence, bite after bite, will delight even the most discerning palate.

Salads are prepared with fresh ingredients that are truly Filipino: salted eggs, green mangoes, pako, kesong puti and grated coconut. Greens are the leafy malunggay and kangkong as well as other vegetables that make up dishes like Pakbet, Pako Salad and Monggo Soup. For appetizer, Kuhol Sa Gata (local escargot drenched in coconut cream and spicy ingredients)  is a winner.

Kuhol Sa Gata, local escargot drenched in coconut cream and spicy ingredients
For entrees, the barbequed Liempo, a slab of perfectly grilled juicy pork belly best eaten with piping hot steamed rice and condiments on the side, is a crowd favorite. The adventurous eater may order Grilled Pig’s Ears, a not-your-usual grilled fare but equally tasty and enjoyable. A healthier alternative is the Tuna Belly, a juicy and tender chunk of tuna sprinkled with chilis and garlic.

The tender chunk of Tuna Belly, sprinkled with chilis and garlic
Of course, what’s Filipino cuisine without the usual highlights: Bulalo, Molo Soup and Sinigang na Baka. Perfect for any kind of weather, these flavorful stews complement the grilled items on the menu.

Meanwhile, skewered beef and pork specialties are not to be passed up if only for Siklab’s signature basting sauce.  “Roasted seafood are dipped in blended soy sauce and lemongrass, while beef, pork and poultry are brushed with a tomato-based basting—all rich and homemade barbecue basting,” Chef Josh explains.

Desserts at Siklab are mostly childhood favorites prepared in a playful way. If you enjoy a slice of sweetened glutinous rice or sweetened banana in your younger years, then you will surely love Siklab’s versions of Caramelized Banana and Biko. Even the ordinary Turon 2.0 becomes fancier as it comes adorned with homemade sugar snap cones and topped with banana ice cream with banana compote.

Turon 2.0
Ultimate Filipino dining experience
As part of Bistro Group’s portfolio of restaurant concepts, Siklab carries the same brand of customer service, great food and friendly ambiance that the chain is known and loved for. In the local food scene, Siklab distinguishes itself as a blazing new venue where families, friends, expats, urban professionals and balikbayans can enjoy an authentic Pinoy dining experience – proof that Filipino dishes are definitely worth dining for.
