CEB inks sale of four Airbus A319 aircraft

May 12, 2016 – The Philippines’ leading carrier, Cebu Pacific (PSE: CEB), signed a forward sale agreement with a subsidiary of Allegiant Travel Company (NASDAQ: ALGT), covering Cebu Pacific’s sale of four Airbus A319 aircraft.

Allegiant is the parent company of Las Vegas-based low-cost airline, Allegiant Air. Delivery of the four aircraft to Allegiant is scheduled from 2017 to 2018.

“As we aim to expand our operations both in the Philippines and abroad, we remain invested in upgrading our fleet with fuel efficient, versatile aircraft. Between 2016 and 2021, we are anticipating the delivery of 30 Airbus A321neos, for long-range capability, and 16 ATR 72-600 turboprop planes, for better inter-island connectivity,” says CEB President and CEO Lance Gokongwei.

CEB currently operates one of the youngest fleets in the world, with an average age of 4.82 years. Its 57-strong fleet is comprised of 7 Airbus A319, 36 Airbus A320, 6 Airbus A330, and 8 ATR 72-500 aircraft.

As part of its conservative fleet renewal program, CEB will be taking delivery of 30 brand-new Airbus A321neo aircraft, the largest model in the A320neo series. The A321neo incorporates new engines and wing-tip devices called Sharklets, which could deliver fuel savings of 20 percent and additional payload or range capability. The aircraft has a flying radius of over 6 hours and can be configured to have up to 240 seats, allowing CEB to access new markets in the Indian subcontinent and Australia.

CEB also ordered 16 ATR 72-600 turboprop aircraft, to meet increasing demand in the Philippines for inter-island services. The ATR planes enjoy a high reputation not only for versatility but also for their ability to operate on short runways. These planes will enable CEB to expand its operations on several smaller airports in its home country, and to contribute to the development of regional transport, trade, and tourism.

Speaking on the agreement, Jude Bricker, Allegiant Travel Company Chief Operating Officer, says: “By the end of 2016, Allegiant will be a majority Airbus carrier, as measured by available seat miles. This agreement to purchase additional aircraft from Cebu Pacific is an important step in our long-term transition to a single fleet type.”

Allegiant previously agreed to purchase six Airbus A319 aircraft from CEB, with three remaining deliveries scheduled to occur later this year. The younger A320 family aircraft will help Allegiant to increase operational efficiency in the coming years. The enhanced operating economics of the aircraft will also open up new growth opportunities for the company by making longer routes and off-peak flying profitable.

CEB offers flights to an extensive network of more than 90 routes on 64 destinations, spanning Asia, Australia, the Middle East, and USA.

For bookings and inquiries, guests can visit www.cebupacificair.com or call the reservation hotlines (+632)7020-888 or (+6332)230-8888. The latest seat sales can be found on CEB’s official Twitter (@CebuPacificAir) and Facebook pages.

Cebu Pacific Air joins world’s first pan-regional LCC alliance

Singapore, 16 May 2016 – The Philippines’ leading airline, Cebu Pacific (PSE: CEB), together with seven other market champions in Asia Pacific, today announced the formation of the world’s largest low-cost carrier (LCC) alliance – the Value Alliance.

CEB (including wholly owned subsidiary Cebgo), Jeju Air, Nok Air, NokScoot, Scoot, Tigerair Singapore, Tigerair Australia and Vanilla Air – will provide greater value, connectivity and choice for travel throughout Southeast Asia, North Asia and Australia, as they bring their extensive networks together.

Customers will be able to view, select and book the best-available airfares on flights from any of the airlines in a single transaction, directly from each partner website, thanks to groundbreaking technology developed by Air Black Box (ABB). This means more destinations, more routing options and greater convenience for customers of each airline.

Unlike typical interline technologies, ABB also allows guests to enjoy the full suite of ancillary choices they have come to appreciate from LCCs, such as seat and meal selection, variable baggage allowances and other inflight features – across all partner airline sectors in a single itinerary. ABB’s Air Connection Engine (ACE) platform has filed for NDC Certification with IATA and is expected to complete full certification soon.

The Value Alliance airlines, who together cover a third of the earth and serve more than 160 destinations with a collective fleet of 176 aircraft across the Asia Pacific region, will strengthen distribution in their non-home markets, expand their saleable networks via the provision of interline itineraries, retain their ancillary revenue opportunities and offer their customers a better, one-stop-shop experience.

Lance Gokongwei, President and CEO of Cebu Pacific remarked, “All of our airline partners are champions in their local markets and well regarded for their value and service regionally and nationally. The Value Alliance is a clear example of how LCCs can accomplish more by working together than we could do individually.”

“We are extremely excited by the opportunities this partnership presents to our guests. The Value Alliance partners are leaders in their respective territories, having forged loyal followings by providing value, service and commitment to their home markets. By working together we can offer our guests a wider choice of destinations and flights – at the most competitive airfares – all in one go,” said Scoot CEO Campbell Wilson.

Added Patee Sarasin, CEO of Nok Air, “The opportunity enabled by ABB and the Value Alliance to offer ancillary products through interline channels is a significant benefit over other partnerships, given LCCs typically earn 10-25 percent of their revenues from such items.”

Scoot, Nok Air and NokScoot are already offering each other’s flights and fares powered by the new ABB technology and other alliance members will follow in the coming months.

“The technology enables us to interface with other airlines within the Value Alliance, including those using different passenger service systems (PSS), to provide a solution to a guest’s travel query – even on routes Vanilla Air may not itself serve to connect Japan to the rest of Asia Pacific,” noted Katsuya Goto, President of Vanilla Air.

Asia Pacific’s tourism industry is the largest in the world, offering travellers experiences as diverse as visiting the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, exploring Tokyo’s mix of traditional shrines and modern shopping, or island hopping in the Philippines or Thailand. With more than 500 million visitors expected to arrive in Asia Pacific by 2020, the new Value Alliance will connect travellers to more of the unique destinations they wish to explore that are typically found in secondary cities.

CEB offers flights to an extensive network of over 90 routes on 64 destinations, spanning Asia, Australia, the Middle East, and USA.

The airline’s 57-strong fleet is comprised of 7 Airbus A319, 36 Airbus A320, 6 Airbus A330, and 8 ATR 72-500 aircraft. Between 2016 and 2021, CEB expects delivery of two more brand-new Airbus A320, 30 Airbus A321neo, and 16 ATR 72-600 aircraft.

For bookings and inquiries, guests can visit www.cebupacificair.com or call the reservation hotlines (+632)7020-888 or (+6332)230-8888. The latest seat sales can be found on CEB’s official Twitter (@CebuPacificAir) and Facebook pages.

Cebu Pacific Air orders 16 ATR-72-600s at the Paris Airshow

Le Bourget
16 June 2015

The Philippines’ leading airline, Cebu Pacific Air (PSE:CEB), ordered 16 ATR72 -600 from ATR, the European Turboprop aircraft manufacturer. At the Paris Air Show, Cebu Pacific and ATR announced that the order includes options to acquire an additional 10 ATR72-600, valuing the total aircraft order at US$673 million, based on current list prices. The transaction will see Cebu Pacific double its turboprop fleet size, subject to the execution of final purchase documentation.

The order is part of Cebu Pacific’s fleet renewal program. Cebu Pacific currently operates a fleet of eight ATR 72-500 aircraft, which will be retired as the new aircraft enter service. The entry into service of the ATR 72-600 will see Cebu Pacific with new generation aircraft to meet growing demand in the Philippines for inter-island services.

ATR aircraft enjoy a high reputation not only for versatility but also for their ability to operate on short runways. This will allow Cebu Pacific to expand its operations not only on main airports but also to several other airports around the country, enabling Cebu Pacific to continue to play a leading role in the development of regional transport, tourism, and local economy in the Philippines.

The ATR 72-600 ordered by Cebu Pacific will be equipped, for the first time, with the high density Armonia cabin, the widest cabin in the turboprop market. It will be equipped with 78 slim-line seats and wider overhead bins with 30% more stowage space. These new technological innovations further enhance space and comfort for passengers.

About 330 ATRs – including more than 100 ATR 72-600s – are currently operated by 55 airlines in the Asia-Pacific region, where for many years now, they have been seen as the reference regional aircraft. The ATR 72-600 has the lowest cost per seat mile in the 70 seat segment, with significantly lower fuel and maintenance costs compared to similar class aircraft.

On their new order from ATR, Lance Y. Gokongwei, President and CEO of Cebu Pacific states: "We have been operating ATR aircraft since 2008, and they have enabled us to bring safe, reliable, and affordable air transport to smaller cities and islands throughout the Philippines. This order is an affirmation of our commitment to extend the convenience of affordable air travel to even more communities. We are very pleased to be the launch customer of this new configuration of the ATR 72-600, as this will allow us to offer our customers more seats at even lower fares.”

Patrick de Castelbajac, Chief Executive Officer of ATR, declares to be "very happy to continue our partnership with one of the leading airlines in South-East Asia and to contribute to the expansion of its network throughout the islands of the archipelago. Cebu Pacific will also be able to benefit from the vast support network for ATR operators in Asia. When their first ATR 72-600 arrives, there will be five ATR pilot training centers in the region."

About the ATR 72-600:

Passenger capacity: 68 to 78 seats
Engines: Pratt & Whitney Canada PW 127M
Maximum take-off power: 2,750 horsepower per engine
Maximum take-off weight: 23,000 kg
Maximum load: 7,500 kg
Maximum range when fully loaded: 900 nautical miles (1,665 km)
