Food Trip # 36 : My 1st Airline Food

AND AND

PAL Econolight Snacks_01

My 1st Airline flight was Manila-Cebu thru Philippine Airlines flight PR 861, and its my 1st time in Cebu too. Since we (me, my sister and friend) are on a very tight budget, we vigilantly wait for promos and other discounted fares. after a few weeks of waiting, Philippine Airlines introduced its newest Fare Class, the EconoLight. it has a big fare cut compared to their EconoFiesta Class. Aside from that EconoLight Class has no meals/snacks and you will be seated on the last rows of the plane thus the fare cut. so we took it right away. while we are in flight to Cebu, the Cabin Crew serve the snacks for EconoFiesta Clients. As for us, we dont get any "frills". i dont care, as long as saved a lot and landed safely, its all that matters.

BUT WAIT!!!!

a few months ago. the EconoLight Class has been upgraded. it now serves light snacks as seen on the photo. now the difference of Fiesta Class to Light Class is Fiesta Class has 20Kg Check-in Baggage allowance (except W and U classes), unlike Light Class retain its 15Kg Baggage Allowance. Thus on my trip to Cagayan de Oro City last 08 of January, 2010 i now have snacks be served on board. The Cabin Crew will ask the client if he will have water; coffee or tea. i asked for coffee for i am a coffeeholic.

for this flight i had : (left to right) Crackers (red); salted peanuts (white); a cup of coffee w/ sugar and cream (small white and blue sachets). OPPS!!! plush toy not included, he is my model =))

yum yum, what a great way to fly. now i wonder what food does the Business Class have =))

Litratong Pinoy # 90 : Balak (Plan; to plan)

in english :

"savings in a glass jar"

when i was a child, grade 3 i guess, i seen my aunt saves her 2 peso decagon coin in a glass jar. as a child i want to ask some of it to buy an ice cream. because of that, i imitateded her in saving up coins in glass jars.

i dont save up in an ordinary coin bank that made out of bamboo; or cardboard or can or the ones can be bought in malls. i still prefer the glass jars because it has something like an "anti-theft device" : you can see its level if someone took from it or you can estimate its worth; it creates a noise when it moves; and most of all, anyone will get hurt if he broke it.

now, here the reason why o used "savings in a glass jar" as take for this theme.

I PLAN to have a blissfull (and challenging) life. yes, I am saving up for my future. i know its too late for me to save up but it never stops me or loose hope. besides, we dont end or stop from saving up and we need to continually to save up not because we want to have a rich life but because we want to have some thing (some amount) for this practical world.

i qoute this line from a TV soap opera "all i want is to have: no debts; utilities and pay for rent (house). just simple (life)" and this is my PLAN in my life.

Food Trip # 35 : Chowking Duets B

AND AND

Mandarin Chicken and Crispy Fish

Chowking has a new but limited offering, the Chowking Duets. 3 set meal that has 2 viands and 1 cup of rice for only 79 pesos (drink not included).

For this entry, I first tried the set B, it has Mandarin Chicken (top) and Crispy Fish nuggets (right) plus Rice (left). the Mandarin Chicken has a sweet and sour sauce and Mandarin Orange bits. The fish nuggets has a bit spicy side from its coating - seasonings - and the dip (tartare i guess). the verdict? its yummy good and for a man has the appetite, an extra rice is a must.

rant:

i really dont like to give rants on my blog, but i really do have to, to improve their products and/or services.

i met myGF's big sister in SM Mall of Asia last 08 of January 2010. i orderd this meal and myGF's sister ordered a boneless bangus meal. Unfortunately, they dont have plain rice thus WE MUST ADD 6+ PESOS for a garlic rice. i just felt we been robbed :(( and left no choice but to say "OK!".

how came that they have garlic rice but don't have plain rice at 10:00am :(does it mean that they served us an old rice (kaning lamig) they just turned it to garlic rice? does it mean that they are still cooking rice? when you are engaged in a food business, plain rice is a must and the first thing to consider, isn't it? Before we open our doors, we must have ready fresh cooked plain rice, isn't it?

Zoning

in any place, zoning is the most vital thing in development. we cannot just place a smoke betching factory right next to a residential area. and we can not place a commercial area thats too far nor too near from the residences.

now i miss playing Sim City.

Saturday 09th January 2010

me, my GF and her parents went to a beauty salon for the ladies make-up. we, the boys, went to rent a Barong* for her dad then we went to a coffee shop while waiting for the ladies' SMS so that we can pick them up. then we proceeded to the wedding then to the reception.

*= traditional formal dress for men here in the Philippines

Sunday 10th January 2010

as i said earlier, we (me and my GF's Dad) went rent a Barong* and to have coffee, while we are on the road, i keep on looking around and seen different places i dream of going. seeing those places reminds me to remind my GF to our itinerary. but one restaurant has this banner and to my amazement, i look like a child on a candy store. My GF's dad asked me if i want to try that and i said YES immediately. when i seen my GF, i shared to her what i seen awhile ago, then she suggested that we can dine there for dinner since i canceled my plans in goin to a beach resort. she then asked her parents that we will all go to that resto for dinner.

at last, i tasted Ostrich meat. it taste like beef and chicken. ill blog the dish next time, after the usual preparations. prices in this menu is in Philippine pesos(PHP). as of jan.11, 2010 1USD = 45.52 PHP
