14th Segunda Mana Charity Shop Opens

The Donation-in-Kind Program of Caritas Manila, Segunda Mana opened its 14th charity shop last May 9, 2014 at the 5th Level of Metro Point Mall, EDSA Rotonda, Pasay City. 

Rev. Fr. Roberto dela Cruz, the Archdiocesan Minister for Restorative Justice, graced and lead the blessing and ribbon-cutting of the newest branch. As Rev. Fr. Anton Pascual, Caritas Manila’s Executive Director puts it, “Buying is the new way of giving.”


Pre-loved items such as clothes, shoes, bags, toys, home and fashion accessories are donated by generous companies, organizations and individuals which are offered at friendly prices in Segunda Mana stalls. 

This is the 14th branch and the 12th mall-based store for Segunda Mana. Other branches are located at Makati Cinema Square, Isetann Cinerama Complex, Harrison Plaza , StarMall-Edsa, StarMall-Alabang, Victory Central Mall, Victory Shopping Center, Victory Pasay Mall,  Farmer’s Plaza, Sta. Lucia Mall, Riverbank Center-Marikina, San Roque Cathedral and in Caritas Manila Head Office.

Metro Point Mall’s owners and management granted free space and stall for this program of Caritas Manila. 

It’s the mission of Caritas Manila to instil the value of giving as a way of life.  Through its pro-poor programs and efforts, they help sustain and uphold the organization’s mission to develop and empower the disadvantaged and the vulnerable. Caritas Manila’s flagship program focuses on education for the underprivileged youth under its Youth Servant Leadership and Education Program (YSLEP) which currently supports 4,000 students. YSLEP is an integrated youth development program that develops the youth’s potential in terms of knowledge, skills and attitude and trains them to become leaders. It utilizes training and formation that emphasize not just academic excellence but leadership while cultivating moral integrity and social commitment to the poor.

Megaworld posts 49% record growth in net income for Q1 2014

Megaworld, the Philippines’ leading property developer and the no. 1 office developer and landlord, posted a net income of P2.69-billion (inclusive of the P604-million non-recurring gain) for the first quarter of 2014, 49-percent higher than the P1.81-billion for the same period in 2013 due to strong residential sales in its various townships, particularly in Newport City, Uptown Bonifacio, McKinley Hill and Eastwood City; and higher leasing income from its office and retail portfolio.

“As we celebrate our 25 years in the real estate industry, we look forward to another record breaking year for Megaworld as we aggressively expand our townships across the country,”says Dr. Andrew L. Tan, chairman and CEO, Megaworld.

On the other hand, Megaworld’s rental income from office developments and lifestyle malls surged to a record 1.7 billion in first quarter 2014, 23percent higher than P1.39 billion same period in 2013. 

Total revenues of Megaworld, together with its subsidiaries Empire East Land Holdings and Suntrust Properties, amounted to P9.94 billion for the first quarter 2014, up 22percent from P8.15 billion forthe same period in 2013.

Megaworld, and its subsidiaries, posted P19.6 billion in reservation sales in the first quarter 2014 which is 9 percent higher compared to same period last year. 

Just last week, the company announced the planned consolidation of Tan’s real estate companies under Megaworld with the acquisition of 49.2% stake of Alliance Global Group, Inc. in Global-Estate Resorts, Inc. (GERI).The acquisition brings Megaworld’s majority stake in GERI to 74.96% and increases the property giant’s total land bank to more than 3,900 hectares.

Megaworld is also set to further solidify its position as the leader in office developments in terms of total office space inventory by completing another 112,000 square meters of office spaces this year.  By the end of 2014, the company will have around 712,000 square meters of office spaces in its portfolio with the completion of new state-of-the-art office towers in Uptown Bonifacio, The Mactan Newtown in Cebu, and Iloilo Business Park.

On the retail side, Megaworld is also set to complete additional commercial and retail spaces with the completion of the Venice Grand Canal Mall in McKinley Hill, and some commercial strips at The Mactan Newtown. Megaworld’s existing commercial and retail space portfolio is currently at 304,083 square meters.

New Jollibee Creamy Shakes and New Combo Meals

It was a pleasant news from my sisters that Jollibee will offer new creamy shakes and it will be available (today) 1st of May. When I went to my suking Jollibee branch - Jollibee Xavier - I was amaze that it's also available here in Cagayan de Oro. What's more amazing its that it has also has other combo options.


I'll definitely try that one later before going home. Right now ill accompany my wife in her office with this another great combo meals.


I ordered spag-hotdog combo on the go for our snacks in the office. As her nieces always say "sharing is loving".


Head now to Jollibee stores near you and grab these new meals. My heart felt gratitude to Jollibee Xavier Crew for always accommodating me the jolly way. Iba talaga ang notorious na suki :lol:
