The first time i seen "Half Mast" in our country was during the death / assasination of Senator Ninoy Aquino. i was still a kid that time and now about 20 years after, it his wife - President Cory Aquino - was laid to rest and Half Mast is given to her honor.
today - Sept 9, 2009 - 40 days after President Aquino's death, the nation will honor her again but this time, its not her alone but she and her Husband Ninoy.
Thank you Aquino Couple, we owe our democracy to you.
Have a Great Wednesday to all of us :D

Very original choice for H.
I went to the Philippines not long after Cory Aquino was elected and I remember lots of yellow everywhere.
Very thoughtful tribute and so original for the letter H.
The flags have been at half staff (as they often call it in the US) often in New York State because of the war dead in Afghanistan and Iraq from NY.
It's a wonderful custom, isn't it? Dates back from the time when communication wasn't as easy and 'instant' as it is today. I'm glad we keep some of these old ways alive. There's something very touching about flying a flag at half-mast to honour someone.
Nice tribute! It's wonderful that they are honored.
Original, timely and powerful H.
Honoring those that have given so much is a true way of showing humaneness...(I am reading Confucius!)

Being a neighbor, I thought that I know the history of your country well enough. But I missed the news of Mrs. Aquino death. Hope the democracy of your country will continue to grow.
