Manna Sutukil Food House

i have nothing to rant about my restos so i will feature my most memorable resto to date.

Sutukil is a Visayan acronym for Sugba(grilled), Tula(stew) and Kilaw(cheviche).

at this resto, i had a great time with: my sister; my girlfriend; and her sibs; sister-in-law; and niece. Her brother suggested this resto for our lunch meeting and get together.

first, we made to chose from an enormous array of fresh seafood and marinated meats for BBQ then....

her brother told what kind of dishes we wanted for those ingredients. by the way, we chosen Tanigue for: Sinugba; Tinola and Kinilaw. a seaweed that goes with the Tinola. Squid for grilled and calamari.

after that we were made to choose which part of the resto we want to eat here in the 1st floor for an enclosed area or.....

the second floor as for that balcony and al fresco scene, over looking the sea and Lapu-Lapu Shrine. of course, we chosen the second floor for more spacious and more relaxing feel.

its Definitely a great day and a great lunch for me. i also had a great time w/ my Girlfriend's family. i enjoyed every moment of it.

after the feast, we strolled around the Lapu-Lapu Shrine.

GK Volunteer

isang kasiyahan sa aking puso ang magkaroon ng isang misyon sa buhay at isa ang pagiging GK volunteer. nakaktawa ang istsura ko jan. kasi naman ang aming opisyal na potograpo ay kuha lang nag kuha kaya ayan! di naman mabigat yung hollow block, napuwing lang ako kasi pag tama ng bakal sa block ay nag labas ng pulbos at pinong durog na bahagi nito.

Nakakasalamuha ko di lamang ang mga benefiacies, pati na rin ang mga engineers, architects, teachers, doktor, nurses at iba pang propesional na nag babahagi nang kani-kanilang mga misyon sa kanilang larangan. Misyon din kasi nila ang ibahagi ang kanilang serbisyo, oras at karunungan sa mga beneficiaries.

Sea Urchins are aboundant in La Union, more particularly in the town of Balaoan. The said town has a dedicated culture site, yup! is a fish pen for sea urchins.

i don't like this seafood. its too salty for me, its like drinking sea water. we just simmer this on boiling water for about 5 minutes and crack its shell with a knife. its pearly roe is the most prized one and the most delicious part.

Puso

Locals say that the "puso" was created so that the cooked rice will not spoil easily. the holes on each weaved coconut leaves act as an air vent.

The seller said that they weave coconut leaves to form a diamond shaped prism, fill it with rice(uncooked) then close the weave. place it on a pot to boil until cooked :D

Litratong Pinoy # 59 : Alam mo ba? (do you know?)

ang aking unang kubyertos

alam nyo ba....

na ito ang aking unang kubyertos. di ko alam kung kelen yan binigay sa akin :( noong binyag ko ata kaya nasa 29-30 years na rin eto sa amin. syang lang at nawala ang kasama nitong plato. noong lumipat kami mula sa Quezon City hangang dito sa kasalukuyang bahay, ay kasama ito, ang siste, pinaglaruan ko ang kasamang bakal na plato kaya nawala na noong nag pa ayos kami ng bahay :(

kaya nananwagan ako sa mga kasama nating mga nanay, sana maitago pa ninyo ang mga ganitong alaala. tyak ko, mararamdaman din ng mga anak ninyo ang saya gaya ng nararamdaman ko sa tuwing nakikita ko eto sa aming lagayan ng kubyertos.
