Sea Urchins are aboundant in La Union, more particularly in the town of Balaoan. The said town has a dedicated culture site, yup! is a fish pen for sea urchins.

i don't like this seafood. its too salty for me, its like drinking sea water. we just simmer this on boiling water for about 5 minutes and crack its shell with a knife. its pearly roe is the most prized one and the most delicious part.

What's the sense of traveling places without sampling thier local specialties. Food that makes the place known for and the other way around. This is my Food Trip, where visiting a place is not the same nor complete without eating what do locals are proud of. Puso

Locals say that the "puso" was created so that the cooked rice will not spoil easily. the holes on each weaved coconut leaves act as an air vent.

The seller said that they weave coconut leaves to form a diamond shaped prism, fill it with rice(uncooked) then close the weave. place it on a pot to boil until cooked :D

ang aking unang kubyertos

alam nyo ba....

na ito ang aking unang kubyertos. di ko alam kung kelen yan binigay sa akin :( noong binyag ko ata kaya nasa 29-30 years na rin eto sa amin. syang lang at nawala ang kasama nitong plato. noong lumipat kami mula sa Quezon City hangang dito sa kasalukuyang bahay, ay kasama ito, ang siste, pinaglaruan ko ang kasamang bakal na plato kaya nawala na noong nag pa ayos kami ng bahay :(

kaya nananwagan ako sa mga kasama nating mga nanay, sana maitago pa ninyo ang mga ganitong alaala. tyak ko, mararamdaman din ng mga anak ninyo ang saya gaya ng nararamdaman ko sa tuwing nakikita ko eto sa aming lagayan ng kubyertos.

Larsian Fuente is the new place for those craving for grilled foods. They all have all kinds of it, from meats to seafood. They also serve(sell) rice, beer and softdrinks.

BIG WARNINGS:
1) since the place is heaven of all sort of grills, expect to be smoked. Oh yes! the smoke smell will cling to your dress and to your skin for hours even a best perfume is no match.
2) they dont have water for hand washing so they give out plastic bag(s) to cover your hand(s). The plates are covered with plastic bag too.
3) bring your own drinking water, you need lots of it =))
