Empanada

Me and girlfriend left their house without having a snack. When we reached Ateneo de Cagayan she told me that she wanted to eat at Cecil’s and she wanted me to taste the cassava cake which she always order. For this series, I'll feature all we tried and tasted.

What I do like in Empanadas is its filling. This bread is somehow, a meal of its own: its bread is the carbo; and the filling is the viand. I can say that this Empanada of Cecil's although small, it has a big yummy taste. Its crunchy and it doesn't have that oily taste.

Cassava Cake

Me and girlfriend left their house without having a snack. When we reached Ateneo de Cagayan she told me that she wanted to eat at Cecil’s and she wanted me to taste the cassava cake which she always order. For this series, I'll feature all we tried and tasted.

I admit, I'm not into cassava cake. BUT this cassava cake is far better than the first I tasted. Before, all cassava cakes I tried had this strings or threads which is I know, is a part of cassava. This cake of Cecil's has less of that thus this makes it "melt-in-your-mouth" feel.

Fresh Lumpia

Me and girlfriend left their house without having a snack. When we reached Ateneo de Cagayan she told me that she wanted to eat at Cecil’s and she wanted me to taste the cassava cake which she always order. For this series, ill feature all we tried and tasted.

First stop, this fresh lumpia. Days ago before this, I had this craving of eating some if not all home-grown fresh lumpia. For this trip, this would be the fourth and the last fresh lumpia that I had. As of this writing, I cant decide which one is good, better, best or worst. I just love fresh lumpia.

Food Trip # 84 : Mom's Corner (1 of 2)

Fresh Lumpia

one day, my GF said that she doesnt enjoyed her Fresh Lumpia of a certain well-known food joint as she said "Mom's Corner is better than {name of the food joint}". For this statement, my curiosity for Mom's Corner's Fresh Lumpia rang into my mind. Few weeks later, I finally went to Cagayan de Oro to visit her. Shared this encounter to her and she agreed for us to dine there for a snack. As for us food blogger's motto "to taste is to believe".

When we are finally there, we seated, read the menu. She pointed the photo of the said Fresh Lumpia in the menu and I was shocked. Not for its price, for its price is fairyly affordable as it is cheaper that the {name of the food joint}. I was shocked, marveled too for the menu reads "Fresh Lumpia with Hot Sauce".

"Hot Sauce?!" I asked my GF. "Hot as in??? Mainit? (as in hot weather) o Maanghang? (as in spicy hot)?" I added.

"Hot for mainit", she answered.

"Two Fresh Lumpia please" I ordered the waiter who waiting for us.

Verdict? yes! i do agree to my GF, this is better than {name of the food joint} . I enjoyed this lumpia as i enjoy the rest of the day to commemorate our 20th Month (24th April 2010) as lovers.

Food Trip # 83 : @ Shakey's (2 of 2)

Hero, Salad and Chicken

This is what I had when me and GF had dinner with her friends. Sorry for a blurred photo. When I captured it, it was good on my camera's LCD, but to my dismay when I arrive home and viewed it on the PC. :(

Its another day to fetch my girlfriend from her work, while I'm waiting for her, I heard from her friends that they are craving to have a platter of Carbonara Pasta in this restaurant and they plan to meet up there. Since I am adjacent to them, they invited me by asking first what would be our (me and GF) plans for the night. I said I would consult her (my GF) first. They punch in their time cards to end the day and left.

When my GF came, she asked me to grab a snack in the City proper. We dine at Hanabells. She ordered spaghetti and I had fettuccine. We strolled a little in Divisoria to hunt for new shoes for her but no luck. So we went to the Gaisano City Mall, still no luck. We went to the grocery and bought pop beans and microwavable popcorn for TV nights. When dinnertime came, she asked me where I want to eat. I shared to her what I witnessed and she texted her friends if they will go with their plans. But no replies received so I asked her we would just dine in there with or without them. So proceeded and informed them that we are there. A few minutes came they arrived and ordered.

Sadly, carbonara supreme is not available thus the two of them ate and shared spaghetti meatballs, I forgot the other one's order but GF ordered this for we are still full from the past snacks in Hanabells and from the pop beans. We also shared to them the remaining pop beans and ate it while waiting for everybody’s' order.

Kanyon ng Galleon Andalucia

Nag punta ako at ang aking kapatid sa ika-13 na daungan ng Maynila noong ika-7 ng Oktubre, 2010 upang mabisita ang "Galleon Anadalucia" ng España. Nagpunta ang nasabing galleon para sa fiesta ng "dia del Galleon" o ang pandaigdigang araw ng mga galleon. Nagpunta muna ito sa expo sa Shanghai, China bago lumayag sa Pilipinas. Isa lamang itong replica ng sinaunang galleon na may ganun ding naginamit upang pagugnay ang Mexico at Pilipinas noong 17 daangtaon para sa kalakalan at turismo.

Ang nasa larawan ay ang isa sa mahigit 10 kanyon ng galleon. Pagtitignan mo sa labas, animoy naka kwadro ang mga kanyon.

English Translation:

"Canon of Galleon Andalucia"

My sister and I went to Pier 13 of Manila last 7th of October 2010 to visit the Galleon Andalucia of Spain. The said galleon went to the Philippines to take part for the International day of Galleons. She went to Shanghai, China for the Expo before coming to the Philippines. This is only a replica of an old sailing ship to connect Mexico and Philippines in the 17th Century for trade and tourism.

In the photo is just one of more than 10 of her cannons. If you'll see it outside, the cannons somewhat looks like its in a frame.
