Food Trip # 71 : the Cakery

Moist Chocolate Cake

Me and GF and her family loves Moist Chocolate Cake thus choosing the right wedding cake for GF's parents' renewal of vows is so easy. We ordered this cake at "Burp" and when we got it, they changed their name into "Cakery". We bought it here since we got many good feedbacks and GF herself is satisfied with the taste. Even her sister and some of her friends got their wedding cakes here. To add more convincing factor, they got the lowest price to that date.

It was the time of rotational brownouts in the city, so GF ordered this cake in full advance so that they can make some adjustments for them to meet our deadline. But sadly, GF and me are not satisfied by saying "we should had bought red ribbon instead". We did not dared to rant our dismay to the management. We just blamed the brownout and left the question "why other cakes the made was far better than this?" hanging.

This cake was made on April 2010 and her sister wedding was May 8, 2010 and the cake is sooo gooood thus the question really hangs.Good thing it was good, if not, this rant manages its way to the management.

Family Dinner

As I shared last weekend, after my Girlfriend's parents' renewal of vows, her father treats us for a breakfast reception, which is not part of our (me and GF) plan. We planned that after the ceremony in the morning, we will go home for a rest and then we will proceed to this dinner reception for the family.

My girlfriend ordered this set menu. it has (clockwise): rice; sweet and sour fish fillet; breaded pork; and chop suey. then a glass of soda and buko pandan salad.

This is the most simplest wedding reception i ever seen. I’m glad that I’m part of it. As for the wedding cake, see it tomorrow (09 Oct 2010).

Sky Watch Friday : Season 04 - Episode 13

Lumbia Airport (2 of 5)

a photo of Lumbia Airport's welcome marker near the runway and the sky who tells me it would be a clear weather and ill have a pleasant flight.

Lumbia Airport is commonly refered as Cagayan de Oro City Airport, which is located in Misamis Oriental, Philippines. it has an IATA code of "CGY" and an ICAO code of "RPML". its a domestic airport with routes to&from: Manila, Cebu & Davao serviced by three airlines.

Background of the Entry:

the night before my flight to Manila, i was texted (message thru SMS) by a certain airline employee that my flight will be re-scheduled 2 hours late. I was kinda confused for i don't fully understand the reason - the aircraft assigned to my flight will under go additional serving- but i am more skeptical to the legitimacy of this message. Thus, me and my Girlfriend decided for me to be at the airport as scheduled just in case the text is just a hoax. with my Girlfriend's parents they brought me to the airport. upon check-in, i immediately asked the clerk if the message is true, they said yes and its from their ticket office. so i saved that number on my phone, check-in my bag and i went out of the airport, went to the mall, have an early lunch then went back to the airport's pre-departure area. i waited there for about an hour more before i finally boarded my flight. during this long wait, i had the chance to take photos of the sky, thus this entry.

Litratong Pinoy # 120 : Publiko (public)

Pila

English Translation:

There was a time that our country was called “Pila-pinas” due to the fact that in every public event, there is a line of people. A line for a Lotto outlet, in buying rice, fetching a water from a public well/water source and of course, a line before boarding a bus, ship or an airplane. Falling in line is a done for us to have a system of order.

"Pilipinas" is the local name of the Philippines. Pila-pinas was coined from: "pila" means to fall in line; and "-pinas" the last sylable of "Pilipinas"

In the photo is an orderly line of people in an airport boarding gate before boarding a commercial airplane/flight.

Food Trip # 67 : @ Dear Manok

Candle Lit Dinner

This is one of the most romantic dinner dates I had with my Pangga: a big bowl of mushroom soup to warm our tummies(top); Chicken Inasal as our main course(middle); sodas to help us swallow; and a candle lit dinner for two. Thank you very much rotational power failures, this was I can say “good timing” =)).the night was so young and so does us so im still craving for more and our soup is so big it still has about 2 more cups so i ordered squid tips(bottom) and an extra rice and another round of conversations.

Before this dinner, we had a stroll in the city, bought candles and flowers for the event the next day, it was Pangga’s parents’ 35th wedding anniversary. Then, its dinner time and I asked her that we will dine in this place and she agreed since she wanted me to experience dinning here. there was about two occasions that my GF and here friends dined here, since in here in Manila, she shared about it thru pictures. No more drooling in the pictures,i said to myself, at last I dined here and I *burp* out loud
